A few notes about this album:
During the months leading up to recording, I got really into the work of Georgia O'Keeffe. I saw her exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art on a family trip in the fall of 2019. A few months later, I picked up a used book with some of her best known works. I really loved the descriptive yet universal titles of her pieces and thought they would work great for the titles of these tracks.
I took full advantage of the "portable" aspect of the Portastudio, bringing the 424 to Synth House Chicago to record on their Minimoog and even lugging it in a tote bag on my bike to record on a friends Hammond Organ.
On Point No Point, I would fill up a whole side of a cassette for one track and shave it down a little for the final mix. On Sky Above Clouds, I kept every track in the 3-5 minute range. It was an experiment to see if I could create the same feeling of being lost in time and space (that can happen during an extended track) in a much shorter time span.
