The 2020s have been absolute dogshit. As the world went into lockdown due to COVID-19, people have felt frustration with society, the government, the boys in blue, racism, transphobia, depression, isolation, and all aspects of life. We've witnessed an incredible amount of death and suffering due to the pandemic, experienced the struggles of mental health as we are continuously let down by those leading us, and dealt with this idea of a return to a "normalcy," one where "essential workers" are treated as "family" - overworked, underpaid, and mistreated by bosses and the public.
Inferno Personale (Personal Hell) is no stranger to these feelings. Featuring members from Colombia, Italy, Argentina, and Germany, this Bremen-based band developed "out of the search for an emotional and psychological catharsis with those in our surrounding who share our thoughts and feelings." Inferno Personale released their first demo, a collection of noisy, multi-lingual, d-beat madness, in July of 2021, and we here at OPT were immediately hooked. Between the shrieking feedback, the group vocals, the monstrous riffs, and the steady d-beat that anchors it, Inferno Personale's "Demo 2021" is a release that is both timely and timeless.
