Mötley Crüe paved the way for rock bands to push the envelope, and their oversized music and outrageous antics, provided the Los Angeles, CA group an epic 30 plus year run that saw them become the voice of a barely pubescent Generation X, the anointed high priests of backward-masking pentagram rock, pioneers of Hollywood glam, and the creators of MTV's first "power ballad." Despite some inner band turmoil, the Crüe scored another mega-hit with 1987's Girls, Girls, Girls thanks to the smash singles "Wild Side," "You're All I Need," and the title track, which became a global success although the original uncensored video was banned from MTV at the time. The album itself, explores themes inspired by the band's hard-living lifestyle of booze, drugs, strip clubs, love of motorcycles, and death. "We went against the grain with this album when it first came out in 1987," explains Nikki Sixx. "The music and lyrics reflect what was going on in the streets of Los Angeles at that time."
