A brief backdrop on my environment when I recorded These Days:
In October of 2018 I got a seasonal job packing and shipping high-end self-care and grooming products. My partner and I had just moved from Brooklyn, NY and it was our first Fall/Winter in Chicago. It was a particularly cold Chicago winter with the polar vortex doling out a couple -20 F days (even colder than Antarctica at the time). My hands got beat up from the constant grind of building, stuffing and taping boxes 8 hours a day. The repetition also took a toll on my brain and I would come home every night completely fried. The one upside was I could listen to music all day long on my headphones. I dug into Pitchfork's top 50 ambient albums of all time, which not only introduced me to the great albums on that list, it also served as a gateway to a ton of other albums and artists I had never heard of.
Thanks for listening.
