In 1997, FIG DISH recorded their sophomore album for Polydor Records, When Shove Goes Back To Push. The album was sunk by a risqué music video for the single “When Shirts Get Tight” featuring adult film stars. MTV refused to play it and the band was dropped by an indifferent Polygram Records and parted ways as they moved on to new projects such as Caviar, Ness, and the Prairie Cartel.
In 2024, FIG DISH returned from hibernation with two sold out shows in Chicago and celebrated 30 years of That's What Love Songs Often Do by doing shows with LETTERS TO CLEO, LOCAL H, and FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE.
On June 26, 2026, Forge Again Records will release When Shove Goes Back To Push on vinyl for the first time, 29 years after the original CD release. The officially licensed 2xLP features colored vinyl, reworked gatefold jacket art by Wall of Youth and vinyl mastering by Carl Saff and was pressed in Chicago by Smashed Plastic.
FIG DISH will return to the stage in 2026.
