A Mirror with a Sea of Flames is a quote from the Tom Wolfe book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, the passage describes Dean Cassady (who would later inspire the main character of On the Road) having flashbacks of a DMT trip while piloting a school bus full of proto-hippies through the hills of New York in the mid 60's, and he would see nothing but flames every time he looked in the side mirror. The text and imagery felt like they were prime for a stoner metal song, and shoe-horning dimethyltryptamine into a song's lyrics alone was worth it.
