Recorded at Last Beat Studio in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas just a block from where the trio played their first gig back in 1985, 2004's Revival served as a return to Jim Heath's (aka the Rev) roots - musical and geographical. "I got this new lick called the 'hurricane' and I call back on the hurricane on this album for the sake of keeping things really rockin,'" said Heath. For you guitarheads, he also introduced a new "top secret lick," here so listen up! Lyrically, the album's themes "run from death to silly," said Heath, who lost his mother prior to the recording ("Someone in Heaven" is written for her). "Indigo Friends" deals with a friend's heroin addiction, while "Calling in Twisted" is about calling in sick to work ("It's about using the fake cough when you make the call," notes Heath). Renowned producer/engineer Ed Stasium was at the mixing board for Revival.
