Universal Relays is the debut full-length from Portland three-piece Veradas, built out of long basement jam sessions that stretch out and then snap back into place. It moves between 70s psych and late 80s / early 90s alternative, with sludgy riffs, tribal drums, dual vocals, and effects that sit right alongside the instruments. The record feels loose and heavy at the same time, constantly shifting but never losing its footing.

Working as a three-piece with a dual vocal approach, Veradas covers a lot of ground without stacking extra layers, which gives the whole thing a different kind of space. Ideas are pushed further than they probably should be, then pulled back into something more focused. It’s dense, but never crowded, and everything feels intentional without being overworked.

According to guitarist/vocalist Travis Ferguson:
“We’re not afraid to let any genre influence us. Some of these songs are inspired by the most random things, but they still end up sounding like us.”
